EnergyTech® Marine offers the most advanced, green, energy-efficient, line of superyacht sized marine vessels available. The HD (hybrid diesel) series is a selection of sophisticated 83’ hybrids capable of global cruising at a fraction of the operating costs and emissions of normal yachts. Published at energytechmarine.com home page are a series of papers that compare and report the operation and system functions of three different modes of use of the vessels
The 83-J™ J is for jet drives. The 83-J is straight diesel powerd with jet drives.
The 83 HD-J™ is the hybrid diesel with jet drives motoryacht version of the vessels. It is referred to as the “Non-Sailboat”. Its hybrid motoring mode is compared to standard direct-coupled diesel vessels along with their diesel generators for AC electrical needs. Read Pulse Buffering Power Core on the home page to learn about the hybrid-ion energy system with its super capacitors and proprietary lithium-ion battery banks.
Whether it is charged by shore-power or by converting diesel fuel into stored ions (think of it as electricity), it offers large cost savings along with a cleaner footprint. The paper explains the basics of the hybrid motor propulsion and AC electric generation for all of the operating modes.
The 83 HD-X™ extreme hybrid diesel version with reaction turbine/sail electric regeneration systems is compared on identical cruising passages made by standard diesel powered motoryachts. Using this vessel in its no-compromise passage-making mode utilizes the hundreds of horsepower captured in its sails to regenerate megawatts of electricity to contribute to an equal or superior speed and distance performance to that of motoryachts and trawlers. The design mission for this vessel is to be able to cruise faster and farther than comparable diesel powered motoryacht vessels regardless of the energy required.
It is propelled by two several hundred HP electric motors connected to twin UltraJet™ jet drives. It charges the super capacitor/lithium-ion energy system from multiple sources. It can call upon 400,000-watts of diesel powered industrial alternators to charge in 50 minutes. It can take a shore-power charge. It can use its twin encapsulated hydroelectric reaction turbines to regenerate electricity from wind energy in the sails. Although it is more efficient to convert most of the wind energy in the sails to electricity before it is used, some of the propulsion is still supplemented directly from the sails. It is tasked to do whatever it takes to go; it never waits for the wind.
Because of its extreme hybrid capabilities, it can perform better than diesel-powered vessels at a fraction of the cost and emissions. Read New Regeneration and Operational advantages on the energytechmarine.com home page.
The hybrid sailing yacht mode allows the HD-X to sail anywhere in the world for free. The difference is that it will perform faster average passages than a normal sailing yacht. It can use its hydroelectric reaction turbines to make all of the motoring electricity (when wanted) and all on-board hotel-load AC electricity required for the voyage. It makes more efficient use of the wind in its sails by converting most of its kinetic energy to electricity before it is used for propulsion. Read how energy-smoothing™ can increase your average speed and distance covered by wind power, by hundreds of percent.
The Pulse Buffering Power Core Hybrid-ion Energy System
The next giant leap beyond diesel-electric. It performs many functions that diesel-electric does not. The Power Core™ replaces all of the standard marine propulsion diesels, generator sets, and lead acid battery banks. It converts a vessel to hybrid electric and provides the power to perform all work aboard the vessel.
It buffers energy from hydroelectric reaction turbines, 240V AC, diesel fuel, and solar energy. The Power Core is now being offered seperately. It can save you a fortune in operating costs.
